The winter coat, tailored jacket and blazer have made a fashion comeback! Come along to our four day Coat Making Course and stitch your own stylish version with beautiful detail and a fantastic fit.

You can also book this course to make a Chanel style jacket. Discover the inner construction techniques that make it unique.

The sewing pattern

Before the course starts Jane will help you choose a sewing pattern in the correct size.

The toile

The calico toile is the key to fitting and style success. When the toile has been fitted you will be ready to start making your coat or jacket with confidence.

The fabric

Selecting the garment fabric, which might be a beautiful wool or tweed fabric you haven’t used before, is the next step.

The construction

Jane will guide you in the use of specialist interfacings or tailoring canvas. Try machine and hand tailoring techniques. Use inner construction techniques for a professional finish. You can add a stylish lining and fabulous fastenings. Jane will share her couture sewing secrets with you and help you press like a professional.

  • To secure a place on the course fees are payable on booking.

  • There will be an extra charge for tuition outside the course dates.
  • Jane White Couture Tuition reserves the right to cancel or change the date of courses.
  • Sewing machines and overlockers brought the studio must have a current PAT certificate. Use is at the discretion of the tutor.
  • The course fee includes materials unless otherwise stated.
  • The course information is an outline. Work completed during the session will depend on pre-existing skills and pace of work.
