Corona virus up-date

We are currently running our Sew Short Cours and Sewing Bee Workshops online but will commence small group sessions in July.

Fitting sewing patterns online workshop 18 June 2021

Our lovely Sewing Bees are missing their sewing fix so we are taking our popular and fun Sewing Bee workshops online with two hour session. Grab a cuppa and your sewing and stitch along with the friendly bees. Jane’s on hand to help.

You can also download our How to insert a concealed zip downloadable tutorial.

Please get in touch for more information or sign up for our newsletter below to keep up to date with what’s happening here and in the world of sewing.

Our programme of specialist short sewing courses are ideal for students who want to try something new or explore a specific dressmaking or pattern cutting project in more depth. They range between 1 and 4 days duration and are usually limited to just 7 students per class to give more individual attention to each person.

The sewing studio is fully equipped with equipment, materials and haberdashery. Elna and baby lock sewing machine and overlockers are available for you to use, or you can bring your own machine along.

Some of the course prices include materials. Please check individual course details to see what materials are included in the course fee.

You can also sign up for our newsletter for course and other sewing related news.

You can also join our Facebook page and Facebook Sew-together group.

Our full programme of short courses is listed on the menu on the left hand side of the screen. Simply click on any subject to find out about the course, what it will teach you, the date(s) that particular course is being held and the cost of the tuition.

To make it easier to match your level of sewing skill and experience to the right courses, there is a guide on each course page:

* beginner
Ideal if you’re new to dressmaking, or have made very basic garments in the past, if you’ve no machine skills or don’t feel confident using a sewing machine.

** intermediate
Perfect if you have a good grasp of basic skills, are confident using a sewing machine and have produced a range of garment types.

*** advanced
Excellent for skilled dressmakers who are confident on the sewing machine and have experience of complex garment construction.

This guide should give you an ‘at a glance’ idea of which course or workshop session may be most appropriate for your level of sewing skill and experience. Students are encouraged to work at their own appropriate level and pace throughout their chosen course and may therefore achieve differing levels of skill, complexity and even completion of the stated garment or sampling on the understanding that gaining or already having the necessary underpinning knowledge and skill is crucial before progressing to more complex tasks. Please do get in touch if you’d like to discuss your individual situation and for advice on which courses may suit you best.
