I hope you and yours are well in these still strange times.
Chatting to you lovely sewers and the enthusiastic postings and appreciative comments for MY MAKES MONDAY in the Facebook group have kept me going and made for a happy start to the week. There’s always room for new members so pop over to Facebook and join in the fun.
Sadly, I think it is going to be some time before I can re-start classes at the studio but I am working on online tutorials and ‘virtual’ one-to-one support. A big thank you to the ladies who have been helping with the test runs. Watch this space for more news coming shortly!
I’ve also been using the time to catch up on those admin jobs that never seemed to get done. There are some new posts on the website including my tribute to the inspiring Jeanne who sadly passed away in February and is much missed by me and her Sewing Bee friends janewhitetuition.co.uk.
Sew Direct, the online store for Vogue, Butterick, McCalls, Burda and Kwik Sew,
have collated a collection of GBSB inspired designs for your own challenge at home. Some have a 50% discount on the full price and thankfully no one will be shouting “30 minutes left”! Go to www.sewdirect.com
On Instagram the hugely entertaining Amber Butchart from BBC Stitch in Time and the GBSB has been rummaging through her dirty laundry with short films about fascinating pieces of clothing. From her Mum’s Biba dress to the evolution of the humble house coat it’s well worth a watch www.instagram.com
I’ve popped a short video below about something I get asked a lot – how to cut a buttonhole without a disaster.
I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more sewing gems for you and, as always, If you need any help with your projects please just get in touch, I’m always happy to help.
Until we can sew together again …..
